I couldn't be more excited about Easter break. I am so glad to be home and get to spend time with my family and old friends! I think as we area about to graduate and move on into the big people world, we will realize how important these breaks were for us at this age. Usually when I come home I never know what to expect, and this weekend is no different. Besides church on Sunday, I am pretty much an open book! I like it that way!
By the way, lets talk about this really quick. We are graduating soon. Yep, soon. I don't think I necessarily care all that much but I think its mostly because I haven't had the time to sit and think about what this next step will really look like. I feel like when you picture your graduation of college you kinda have a check list of what post-college life looks like. I had one, but there are not very many checks next to things on that list right now. I used to be super stressed out about that sort of thing, now I am pretty easy going about it all. All that being said, that doesn't mean if I graduate and am still jobless that I wont be at least a little bit freaked out. I think I am ready for big kid playground. How do I know that? Well, I don't. But I know that I am SICK AND TIRED of studying, and going to class.
Anyway, I hope you all have a great Easter break and remember the most important part about this weekend. We know this is an important weekend but do we really realize that without Christ's death on a cross and resurrection that we have NOTHING to live for. It is only through the actions taken by our savior in the next 72-96ish hours that ever give us HOPE. This weekend I thank my God who gives me HOPE, and a PURPOSE on this earth that is greater than myself.
"Oh, praise the one who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead!"
Until next time.

long time, no blog
Hello blogging world. Oh how I have missed you. Wow, what all has happened since we left one another? Spring break, what an adventure. I had a blast with Austin, Cameron, and Slayt in Lake Tahoe, phoenix, Las Vegas, and everywhere in between. We really did have a blast. Hopefully I can put some pictures up later. My spring break ended with Laura's birthday. the Big 22. We had a great time in Dallas with Whitley and Ryan (our partners in crime) and got to bring in Laura's 22nd year. Happy birthday boo.
Also over spring break, it was my dad and little brothers (Cole) birthday. I want to give a shout out to my dad. What a stud. I absolutely love him and think he is the best dad in the whole world. He has really done his very best to give us anything we could want in life and he encourages me daily to be a better man. Happy Birthday, Dad!
On a somber note. The Aggies lost over spring break. What a way to end the week. I was so devastated that words are not sufficient in description. The aggies would have gone on to meet Duke in the sweet 16, in Houston, an hour and a half from me, and I would have been in total basketball heaven/anxiety hell all week. I love the Aggies, but i really love the Dukies. What would I have done?!?! But on a brighter note, I am going to see DUKE PLAY TOMORROW IN HOUSTON!!!!!!!!! This will be only my second time to see my team, Duke, play in person, and I might have a nervous breakdown. I am going with my Dad and look forward to a great night in Houston!!
All that being said, I feel like this was just to catch you all up on my life. I hope you are all having a great week and I will be blogging more soon, promise.
Until next time.

Meet the Garcias
I know, two blogs in one day! I better slow down!
After that last post I realized that I didn't introduce you to a couple that I truly believe was sent from Jesus to save my life. Meet Gerald and Donna Garcia.
Oh man, just seeing that picture makes me happy. Those two people are the definition of a servants heart. I had the blessing of the Garcia's opening up their home to me when I was going through that rough time. I say blessed because I don't know of a better word, but if there was a better word, I would use that. I lived on a pull out couch, but I felt like I had my own room, my own space and Donna did whatever she felt like I needed in order to make me feel at home.My time there was defiantly full of discipleship from Gerald, but I literally felt Christ ooze out of that house. My relationships that I had with every Garcia family member (they have two great kids, Rebecca and Drew) were just another way that God used the family to show me his love. They loved me uncontrollably. It was unreal. Gerald was stern when necessary, but only out of total love, and he proved how much he loved me everyday so I respected and trusted every word that came out of his mouth. He knows the scriptures so well that they just are continually a part of his everyday life. Donna, wow, what a servant. I came home everyday to a clean house (new vacuum marks and all, I'm not kidding), and a meal if I ever needed one. She asked about my day everyday, like I was her own child. She really cared about my well being all the time. Both Gerald and Donna were usually gone from around 1045-2. Not because they took a long lunch break for the two of them, or because they spent time together at parks, hanging out. Nope, they both had lunch dates with people. Everyday, sometimes three times a day. There is no telling how many times a week Donna ate at Jason's Deli :). They were consistently pouring into people and still had times to fill themselves up daily.
I am sure you can already tell but I believe with all that is in me that Jesus sent the Garcia's for me. I am sure that there are MANY MANY other people out there who feel the same way about themselves. But I know they were there for me during that time. Even though I don't see the Garcia's as much as I used to, I still love them all so much. And as much as Gerald hates weddings, he will marry me one day.
And a special shout out to their daughter, Becca. She had to put up with me for the same amount of time and when she would call me 'brother Bret' it made me so happy. It still makes me smile when I think about her calling me that today! She is unreal as well! She is so satisfied in who she is as a daughter of the king. Her parents have taught her a real love for Jesus and she has accepted that love of Christ into her life and it makes it her daily goal to love and know Jesus more. I love Becca. And here is a picture of her beautiful face.

Okay, that's plenty of blogging for today.
Until next time.
If you are reading this (especially you, Garcia's), I love you.
Happy Sunday
Hello all. Its been a while since I have sat down to blog for a little bit. I am sure that you all missed my blogs so much, so sorry for the delays. This has been a great weekend! Friday night I went out to the ranch with Laura, my parents, my parents best friends. It was a great night with a lot of funny conversations. We had a blast. And last night (Saturday) we went to Whitley's for a dinner party to celebrate Ryan's return to College Station and celebrate his new job. It was a ton of fun.
This morning I went to church at Grace. It was really great! The message was on forgiveness. In all honesty, I feel like I am really good as forgiving people and moving on. I don't think that I have a real issue with that, but I have spent the afternoon thinking about why it is that I am so okay with just forgiving and moving on, because that is not the case for a lot of people.
If you are reading this you probably know me well enough to know that I had a really tough battle (and at times still battle) with anxiety. Jesus let the devil take over that part of my life for a long time, around eight or nine months. It was one of those times when I felt like God was taking my life and turning it completely inside out for his glory, which caused a side effect of some major anxiety issues, and needless to say, It was a really tough time in my life, and I continue to be very grateful for the people in my life that helped me through it. I think because of that time, I have been really able to open my heart to forgiveness towards other people. I think that I just see life in a much less serious way and can let things go much easier than some other people. This is just one of the many blessings that I continue to see from that time in my life.
All that being said, I could not be more grateful for that difficult time in my life. It has really given me a better look on the everyday troubles of life.
This morning in church we sung about how we serve a God that is 'mighty to save'. I always think about myself when we sing that song. It seems to always really hit deep. How mighty he was to save me two years ago! It is only through him that I can face tomorrow. All the glory and honor go to him.
Anyways, hope all that rambling makes some sense!
Until next time

life on a budget
Okay, okay, I get it. EVERYBODY should always on a budget...maybe I should have named this "life on a college budget". Anyway, this month will be an expensive month in my life. I have been UNBELIEVABLY blessed by my parents in them giving me the gift of leaving college debt free. Those two (my parents) pay for everything that I do, every place I go, ect. However, they give me a set amount of $$ then if its out, its out (kinda, like I said, they love me). But since this month includes spring break, Chilifest, and the all important day of Laura's birth, my monthly amount will not be enough, therefore, I sent a VERY professional (if I do say so myself) budget to my parents and I found out today from my dad that all of my requests have been GRANTED! Man, how excited I was! Thanks Mom & Dad! I am trying to still save money as much as possible so I can have extra money...we will see how that goes!
Sometimes I don't know why I write the things I do.....This, would be one of those times.
Until next time.

Hello all
Hello all (the 5 or so of you that read this),
Last night I had a great time in Waco with Whitley (check out her blog!) and Cameron. We made the trip for the basketball game, and although the outcome of the game wasn't what we wanted, we still had a great night! I love Aggie basketball, a lot. and that is such an understatement. However, as I was sitting there at the end of the game, about 20 seconds left, I was a complete and total nervous wreck. I could barley control myself. I have this unreal passion for that basketball team and I hate to watch them lose. Then when we were walking back to the car it hit me. What if I was as passionate about my relationship with Jesus, as I am passionate about Aggie basketball? I haven't been able to stop thinking about that. How much different would my life look? Its a hard truth to take in, but it is truth. There are a lot of things that we replace Jesus with. In this time in our lives, many of us could probably substitute Aggie basketball with future job plans. What if you cared as much about Jesus as you do care about where you are working, who you are working for and if you are going to have a job period. I know that this is rambling and I don't really know where I am going with it yet, but I am praying through this at this time in my life, and I am confident in the Lord showing up and teaching me more through this situation and these thoughts. I feel like this doesn't make sense because it is still so jumbled up in my mind and heart still. Oh well.
Until next time.

I dont really understand.
I am very confused. I have been going to school since age 6 (I am now almost 23) and I still dont know how to study. Seriously? I know there has to be a better way to study then how I do it. I know, if you are reading this you are probably thinking, "Bret, you could probably start a little earlier than the night before.", yeah yeah yeah, but what fun is that? This all came about because I took a test today and it was pretty much like pulling teeth to get me to study. Anyways, sorry for rambling....... and heres to a good night at the Tap. Probably not singing tonight...but you can never be so sure....

This should be interesting.
So, I guess I have decided to start a blog. This came about mostly because I dont want to study for my test that I have tomorrow, but also because I secretly wanted to have one. Everything that I write will probably be dumb, but I hope you like it, at least a little bit. Lets start with a picture or two for you people. First of all, this is my family.

Man, I really love them. My mom and dad are about as good of parents as you will find. They area always there to love me, even when I am completely wrong, they are always on my side. My older brother, Adam, is 24 and is a humanitarian photographer and is currently in Haiti taking pictures. The little brother, Cole, is 18 and a freshman at A&M, lets hope he makes grades and will still be here next year :) Love you coleboy.
Oh yeah, and this is my girlfriend, Laura.

She is pretty great too. We have been together for...well....a while. And its been great! We both have some big decisions in the next few months, but we are secure in the fact that we serve a God that is greater than our relationship and we are praying that his will will continue to be done in our relationship.
...Anyway, thats enough for now. Still not sure about how I feel about this whole blogging thing, but I will figure it out. Okay, gotta go study, or facebook, or something along those lines.
